Nutrition Coach & Healthy Meal Prep
I was always interested in health and wellness, but it wasn't until I found CrossFit in 2012 that I really started diving into how I could live my best life. I was working out regularly but wasn't eating the best. I was also in a place of working out really hard during the week with restrictive eating and then binging on the weekends.
I started to learn how to cook and over the years learned what works best for my body. It wasn't until I really changed my diet that I could really benefit from feeling my best and performing my best in the gym. I am now pretty in tune with my body, and while I love all things healthy, I'm a huge advocate of balance and moderation.
I usually take my Ka’Chava blended in a smoothie, I LOVE LOVE LOVE adding Ka’Chava to my morning post-workout smoothie.
My favorite go-to recipe uses Ka’Chava Vanilla as the base, then I add frozen spinach, frozen cauliflower rice, frozen pineapple, fresh ginger, fresh turmeric, cinnamon, maca, and almond milk.
I also love to blend Ka’Chava into my protein pancakes and energy balls or add it to overnight oats.
I feel the best when I get in some daily movement and fuel my body with healthy foods. I don't always want to go to the gym, but I know getting there is half the battle. Just knowing how much better I will feel helps keep me going. I also want to live a long and healthy life and be around for a while with my loved ones.
I hope to inspire people to get in the kitchen and get moving.
Even if you just make little changes - going for a walk after dinner or adding spinach to your omelet - you are moving in the right direction. These little changes add up and can have a huge impact on your life. I was also in a place of over exercise and under-eating for a long time, and hope to help people get out of the mindset and mentality.
I'm a huge advocate of meal prep during the week. It doesn't have to take your whole weekend away either. I love making a few staples during the week (shredded chicken, quinoa, rice, chia pudding, roasted sweet potatoes...) and then I turn it into an easy meal by adding some veggies. I also love making bigger batches for dinners so we have leftovers for lunch the next day.
Yes and no. I used to be a huge label reader, but now I am a little more relaxed as I know the brands and products I like. When buying something new, I check to make sure it doesn't have any added sugar, additives, or things I can't pronounce.
I have a Garmin watch and use that to watch my steps, sleep, heart rate, and more. I also use My Fitness Pal to track what I am eating to make sure I am getting enough food.
Get more sleep, include more daily movement in your life (by walking or taking the stairs), and eat more vegetables.
